GSN Mental Health Talk 12.5.25
Starting at 17:00 at the BioCenter, Room D00.003 (ending approx. 19:00)
Topics for the Talk (approx. 1,5h):
Stress and Time Management
Many students report difficulties in balancing work and personal life. Issues such as feeling overwhelmed by workload, time management struggles, and burnout appear in almost every feedback. The pressure to be constantly productive often leads to a vicious cycle of frustration and ineffective work.
Isolation and Lack of Social Network
International students or those without close contacts on-site often feel isolated. The transition from a social, structured environment (such as undergraduate or master’s programs) to a frequently solitary work routine during a PhD is perceived as challenging. The lack of moral and emotional support is a major stress factor.
Imposter Syndrome and Self-Doubt
The feeling of not being good enough or believing that everyone else is smarter and more competent is a recurring issue for many. Self-doubt and the tendency to define one’s self-worth solely through academic achievements put a significant strain on mental health. These thoughts often amplify feelings of insecurity and the fear of not belonging.
